Jefferson Elem: Barber (4th Grade)

Puzzle Corner

Have fun figuring out the solutions to monthly puzzles

by Annette Barber

Fourth grade students love puzzles of any kind.  One day students worked on Squzzles which consist of nine square-shaped pieces which form a picture or design. Right brains love the colors and imagery.  Left brains just want to "figure it out." Look at our slide show of students working hard to arrange the squzzle-puzzle cards till all the objects match.  It's tougher than it looks.

Following is a site from Activites in Math and Science which has monthly puzzles and their solutions.  We have tried some of these out and the students enjoyed them.  Encourage your child to try some at home and they can learn to enjoy puzzles and the mathematics behind them.
