2005-2006 Golden Sower Children's Book Award Nominees.

Check Out These Book Titles

Jeanine Stritzke, Elementary Media Specialist

Atop the capitol building in Lincoln, Nebraska, is a huge bronze monument, the Sower.  The Sower was chosen as the symbol of Nebraska's children's choice literary award.  It is hoped that the Golden Sower Award will sow the seed which will help to develop an appreciation for excellence in writing and beauty in illustrations among Nebraska's children that will stay with them all of their lives.  Whether for pleasure or information, the reading of quality literature will enrich lives and sow seeds for a finer future life.  To be eligible to vote for the 2005-2006 winner, students must read or have heard read to them at least four of the ten nominated titles.  Students who are interested in being on the Reading Classics teams need to read as many of these titles as they can.
