Social Studies

“Don’t ever judge a book by its cover,” is one of my favorite sayings. Almost everyone was whispering on the tennis court a couple of days ago about meeting our new teachers. But even if any of the things people were saying were true, everyone - student and teacher, is unique and they were all great.

It was a perfect day, not to cold but not to hot. Everyone tried to hold their heads high, but we were all sad that we were leaving such a beautiful day behind.

Everyone’s tummy’s groaned as we had to sign the lunch count. Next, was always the challenge, we had to say the Pledge while doing sign-language.

As we headed into science with Mrs. Hudson, we all had smiles on our faces because there was not assignment on Friday, which meant no grade! We learned all kinds of dogs today, like beagles, Australian Shepherds, and Golden Retrievers.

Today we figured out whose reading class we were in, and I and a few others stayed in Mrs. Hudson’s room. We read a story about Peru and almost for the first time all day, we groaned as we got ready to hear our assignment. We had lots of time to work on it making some frowns turn to smiles.

Social studies came and went. We went over vocabulary, and then we did a graphic organizer a little in class.

Spelling today was a pretest. We went over every word and then almost before we could have started working on our work, the bell rang.

We all hurried in line to still our growling tummies. I almost thought I missed the bell because the sound was almost replaced with the noises our stomachs made. Mini corn dogs waited for us along with peaches and milk.

We all ran out for recess which almost seemed to last for one second! I played football, and everyone else ran off with their friends, making it the best they could!

In math there were great happy cheers and sad groans which usually meant we got our papers back form last week. When we got our assignment, it was mostly cheers because the assignment looked pretty easy. But like I said, don’t judge a book by its cover!

We went to library and took our Star Reading Test which took up almost the whole class.
Music waited for us.

In music class, Mr. Zrust taught us all kinds of thing about the piece of music we listened to. One thing I remembered was that you sound like you look.

Mrs. McDowell is our new guidance counselor and taught what a good friend is and isn’t. She also had us write down characteristics about ourselves and then things we had to work on.

For writing we had to find good leads and endings out of newspapers and read our conclusions out loud.

Next, it was study hall, and some marched off to band. It turned out to be a great day. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover I said at the beginning of the day, well I like my book very much. I’d judge my book with a smile on my face.
