Monkeys, fish and snakes wow! All of these animals were just some that we saw today at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. My roving reporter day was easy except the whole “doing it” thing, of course.
All 6th graders woke up this morning saying, “Yea! Whoooooo. It’s
our first field trip of the year!!” Of course we didn’t think of
how tired we were going to be after going to all the places that we
wanted to see.
I was in Mrs. Dux’s group. We first went to see an IMAX film called
Dinosaurs Alive! 3D. So of course we were all happy because we got
to wear those funky 3D glasses!
Next it was lunch! We were so glad because we were all starving
after the two hour bus ride up with noisy 6th graders. We had
turkey, cheese, and bologna sandwiches, with milk, juice, rice
crispy treats, and cheese puffs. It was so good!
After Lunch we went to see the gorillas. One didn’t like us much,
we guessed, because it came up to the glass and started pounding
really hard! But the baby was doing tricks. It was so cute!
After that we went to the orangutans. They were so cute too. The
day was almost halfway over and we couldn’t believe it.
After the orangutans we went to the rainforest. It was hot and
humid in there, but we couldn’t focus on the humidity because all
we could focus on was the beautiful vegetation and animals. There
were huge fish as big as sea cows, small fish smaller than dimes
and also medium sized animals.
Da da dadadadadadada… Aquarium! Yea, the aquarium is one of my most
favorite places because we got to see a smaller version of Jaws
plus a whole bunch of fish, rays, and more fish.
Ahh, after getting out of the rainforest, it felt good outside.
After the aquarium, we thought it was cold, but then we got out of
our last stop of the day, the Desert Dome! We didn’t have much time
after we went kind of slow in the Creatures of the Night exhibit.
We had to rush through the Desert Dome. We were out of the dome in
5 minutes flat.
“The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, and
round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round, all
through Omaha.” We sang all the way home! To view more
