“Conjunction, junction, what’s your function?” Today we went to a play by the high school called “School House Rock.” We learned about verbs, adverbs, subjects, and nouns. But before we talk about that, we still have a whole day to discuss.

We walked into the classroom with shivers in our bodies because it was freezing outside. Before emptying out our book bags, we took a test we found on our desks. They asked you questions like, “What is your favorite vegetable for Thanksgiving.” Since we do it everyday, we got to the normal old lunch count and Pledge.

I gathered my things and was off for science. As if we could read minds, we got out our fish, which was our assignment from yesterday, and we shared them with the class. We had to tell what kind of fish it was. For example, we had to tell whether our fish was a Brown Trout or a Catfish. Right after that we got our work sheet out from yesterday. We had to fill in the missing cubes and make an estimate. We went over the answers in class. As soon as we were finished going over our assignments from yesterday, we went over our assignment for today. We worked on our diamond which has information that we are going through as adolescences, like emotional changes, intellectual changes, physical changes, and social changes. We had a test on all of that right after we reviewed it. As if science was 3 hours long, we still fit in an L to J quiz, and we graphed that right away.

I just left my L to J things out because in reading, I knew we were also going to be doing L to J, though we still watched a movie first about the Iditarod Trail. When the movie was finished, we then did L to J and also graphed that in class. Whether we finished graphing or not, Mrs. Hudson had us turned to page 238 in our text books and read the story, “Haiku”. We learned about poems in the story. We were assigned page 70 in our workbooks, which reviewed the poems we learned about in our textbooks. Because there is only a half day tomorrow, we took a test that we normally take on Fridays. That was also apart of our assignment.

Yesterday we were assigned 2 sentences in sign language class, so today we decided that we would share those in class. They had to be about new words we were learning about like the words, fish, cow, chicken, and other animal words. I thought Mrs. Dux was a mind reader because she told us to only sign 1 sentence so that everyone would get to sign, and when the last person was done, we filled the halls with our tummies growling.

We all scrounged for our food on our plates and sat down to eat. We had the choice of tacos, bananas, bread, fruit, and ice cream. There was no time for talking today. We all buried our faces in our food, and quickly stuffed our tummies.

Finally fresh, but cold air awaited us outside. After all, we wouldn’t be seeing the air for quite awhile after recess. So sadly but expectedly, we headed into the classroom when recess was finished and were off to math.

We learned about factor trees and how to use them, when, and why. We learned two different ways to do them. We can multiply by making a tree, or we can divide by making a tree. We had an assignment to do, and just to think it couldn’t get any worse, 2 of them were due in class and the other was due Tuesday. Page 122 #49-57 and page 126 #44-50 were due in class and page 125 #17-24 was due Tuesday. But after all that hard thinking, we got a break because we got to go to P.E.

Since there was only a half an hour left until we had to head to the auditorium, we had P.E. with Mrs. McAllister’s class. We played Chinese freeze Tag for warm up. We were like a herd of elephants in the gym because there were so many kids running around. It was game day, so we got to choose which game we wanted to do. Mostly all of us chose doge ball, boys against girls. We only got to play 2 games, but it was fun being able to see your friends from other classes.

Before we even got in the class room, Mrs. Dux was telling us that we needed to get ready to go to the program at the high school. Like I said it was called “School House Rock Live.” It was a very good learning experience. I learned about all kinds of things, adjectives, emotions, and feelings.

After the play, we walked back up to the school. When we got back, it was already study hall. Many of us headed off to band and others got busy at work. The room got quieter and quieter and got busier and busier.

We learned about verbs, adverbs, nouns, subjects, emotions, and even feelings all in one day! I couldn’t imagine what more I could learn. But there so much more that I can, I’m sure!
