Math

Talk about homework, because we had a lot, and I’m here to tell you all about it. That’s right the whole day. So buckle up and hold on tight because we’ve got a long ride.

The minute we arrived in the classroom we unbuckled our seat belts and said the Pledge of Allegiance in sign language and signed the lunch count. We cleaned out our desks, put everything away out of our book bags, and gathered our things for science.

Mrs. Dux then drove us to Mrs. Hudson’s room. We got started on science right away. To refresh our memories, we went over our assignment from yesterday which was a review. After that we filled our brains with more knowledge and read a little on page E12. We had to record what we learned which was about mixtures. We also drew pictures of the mixtures. Luckily we could work with a partner. But to add on to all of that homework, we had a worksheet on mixtures. It was just a cut and paste worksheet, though.

Sadly, I didn’t get to ride in the car to go to the next subject because I stayed in Mrs. Hudson’s room for reading. Since yesterday we read a story and had to stop in the middle, again we refreshed our memories by doing a worksheet that was a graphic organizer about the story, “Nothing Ever Happens On 90th Street.” But since we hadn’t read the whole story, we only did half of the worksheet. But when we were done reading the story, we finished it. But to add on to all the reading we did, we read more because we did fluency reading next. The fluency read was about a letter to a boy about a girl name Julie’s school. There was more homework to add on to all our homework we already have, because we had to do page 86 and 87 in our workbook.

I jumped in the car as Mrs. Dux drove us to spelling back in our homeroom. We checked papers as soon as we got in the room, but that seemed to take less time than saying the word “an”. Since we still had a lot of time left we moved on to signing.

We learned more songs for the holidays. We learned a little bit of “Let it snow” and reviewed our other songs which are “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “I’ll Be home for Christmas,” and “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.” Time sure does fly when you’re having fun because as soon as we knew it, we were in the hallway ready to fill our tummies.

Corndogs, applesauce, a breadstick, a brownie, salad, juice, and milk where the menu today and it filled my belly. But my full stomach and I had to go outside, and it was cold. Thankfully it went by fast.

After lunch, we all ran inside ready to think math! We gathered our things in excitement as we jumped in the car and headed to Mrs. Mac’s room. But some of the excitement was changed when we graphed our chapter test and cumulative review. Even more smiles turned to frowns, because we then went over our assignment from yesterday. But it changed a little when we all figured out we where done grading. We learned about outliers next. Outliers are numbers that are far apart from others that will change the mean. Frequency tables and line plots were next on our list to learn. While it was still fresh in our minds, we had an assignment. Although we didn’t have any time to work on our assignment, we jumped in the car and were off for P.E.

We stretched and played elbow tag for warm up. When we were all warmed up, we learned about a jump shot. A jump shot is a type of shot in basketball with a jump. Broken into groups, we all practiced it until the jump shot was time to go. Mrs. Seibolt drove us to our homeroom.

Because sickness was going around and lots of people had to go home that day, Mrs. Dux had us clean the room. We washed the desks, counter tops, and vacuumed. I defiantly felt cleaner!

I guessed it was a partner day because we had to have another partner to practiced vocabulary for social studies. We practiced chapters 1-6 and chapter 9. Even though we where only on chapter 4, it was still good practice for us to jump a little ahead and learn new words. Like archipelago is a group of islands and plunder is goods taken during war.

Yesterday we had to write a dialog with four different people talking. So today we reviewed that for someone who left yesterday and to remind us. Mrs. Dux had someone read their story, but not everyone got to read theirs. Some people were happy because it was study hall.

It was definitely a quite study hall though, because of all the homework. So I hope you had a nice ride and a safe trip. Join me next time for a great adventure!
