January 18, 2008

“Ouch, that really hurt.” I must be dreaming or did I actually slip and fall on the ice. It is another cold, blustery winter day outside. I like the snow and sledding, but it has been too cold for sledding. Actually it is cold as ice. I guess it is time for me to get out of bed and ready for school. Today is Friday, January 18, 2008 and I am roving reporter.
We get to go into school in the morning now to read AR books.
Reading is not one of favorite things to do. I would rather be
outside with my dad or my neighbor working.
We entered Mrs. Dux’s classroom with excitement. We started the day
as we do on every other day with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Afterwards we took lunch count. Today we are having Jeff Rib. That
is a pretty good lunch.
We read pages E36 and E37 reaction today in science class. We did a
new experiment with clear pop and raisins. If you take the lid off
the pop and put raisins in it they will rise and fall. Place the
lid back on the pop and the raisins will fall and stay there. This
was an awesome thing to learn about.
State standards were on the agenda for reading class. This standard
was over dictionaries, atlas, almanacs, phone books and much more.
We learned about them also. Learning how to read better is also an
important part of reading class.
Mrs. Dux read aloud from the book Perils of the Peppermint for
about 5 minutes in spelling class. We didn’t do much else. Today
was a review day for a Unit 3 review test. Of course that will mean
that there will be a big test coming up.
Lunch and recess are up next for the day. We had indoor recess
today due to the snowy weather. We played Apples to Apples or with
the Legos. We also had a chance to study, if that was our choice.
Inside recess is not as much fun as going out into the fresh air
and running as quick as rabbits.
In math class we took an L to J quiz. This was done by graphing.
After our quiz we started to learn more vocabulary words.
Today was library day. We read our Golden Sower Nominee books. When
we finished the book, we were able to draw a sketch for our
project. Afterwards we headed over to music class. Today was shine
Friday, and the band played a song. Then Marissa played Yankee
Doodle Dandy on the piano. It was a fun day, so we didn’t really
have to do much.
Social Studies was taught in the computer lab today. We learned how
to correct a paper when the words capitalize themselves. Borders
around text and paragraphs we also taught.
Study hall was the last class today. We studied as quiet as mice.
When the bell rang we were all excited because we get a long
weekend. Monday is an in-service day so we get to stay home. I
grabbed my books and backpack and was ready to go home.
