Mrs. Dux got Valentines too!

Today is Thursday February 14, 2008. Happy Valentines Day to all! I was excited to go to school for our party. Everyone has been sick, so that part is not so great. I hope everyone gets better over the long weekend.

We entered Mrs. Dux’s classroom with excitement. We started the day as we do on every other day with the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterwards we took lunch count. Today we had Chicken Quesadillas.

In science class today we started by taking an L to J quiz. After that we checked a short worksheet on Abe Lincoln. We then checked our heat sources worksheet and we opened our textbook to pages E58 and E59. Mrs. Hudson then gave us an assignment on heat. We learned about radiation, conduction, and convection.

Reading class was pretty much the same as every other day. We read lesson 58 and finished our workbook page. We are still working on better reading skills. Class seemed slower than molasses today.

Mrs. Dux didn’t make us take our test today. This made me as happy as a clown. We worked on spelling words instead. With so many people sick this week, I think she felt sorry for us. Thank you, Mrs. Dux!

Lunch and recess were up next for the day. We had indoor recess today due to the cold weather. I spent recess working on my science. Inside recess is not as much fun as going out into the fresh air and running as quick as rabbits.

In math class we checked the front of our worksheet and then worked on the back. We then took an L to J quiz. After our quiz we started to learn more vocabulary words. We were going to play a game, but time went by faster than a running spider.

Music class was next. We finished watching the movie Newsie. Afterword’s we headed over to PE. Boat races are what we did today. We put scooters on mats and sat on them and someone else pushed us. It was really hard because the person pushing got tired.

In social studies we learned more about working with Microsoft Publisher. For example, we learned how to enter pictures. Then we made Valentine Cards for our family and we learned how to make pictures.

Study hall was the last class today. We had our Valentine’s Day party and everyone finished passing out their Valentines. When the bell rang, we were all excited because we get a long weekend. Friday is Winter break and Monday is an in-service day so we get to stay home. I grabbed my books and backpack and was ready to go home for a long weekend.
