The Inca

Zero is not usually a word that you want to hear in school. However, today when we talked about the weather, we discussed the word, Zero. The thermometer outside stated that it was 0 degrees. Brrr Brr Brr!!!

Our first class of the morning was science. Mrs. Hudson went over our work from the day before. After that, we learned about insulation. I found that insulation is a good thing because it helps hold heat in. Some homes have insulation in their walls to help keep the home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Next we had reading class. The students discussed the murals they had made the day before to help better learn our vocabulary words. The murals were interesting and creative. Before class was over, Mrs. Dux had us go over our vocabulary questions.

Spelling involved us checking our papers from yesterday. We practiced signing also. I hope that I get better at it soon. It is still fun though.

For lunch, we had cheesy chicken and rice. Recess was indoors of course. Some people played games and some people worked on their homework. Everyone was doing their own thing.

In math, Mrs. Mac had us check over our papers from the day before. Then she taught us how to multiply fractions. I thought this would be hard, but Mrs. Mac explained it well and it was actually kind of fun.

Social Studies was movie time. We watched a movie about the Inca population. It was interesting to learn about their way of life. I am glad that I live in this century however. I enjoy the conveniences that we have in our day and age.

Later some people had band and others had study hall. In study hall, some people worked on homework and others read.

Finally, the bell rang and we went out into the “Zero” degree weather once again.
