Reading

Was that a speeding bullet or superman? No, it was the students dashing into the building from outside. All of the students read until it was 8:30. While they were reading, Sydnie went around the class asking what they wanted for lunch. After that, we signed the Pledge of Allegiance. Once we finished, Mrs. Dux read the Perils of Peppermints to us.

Mrs. Hudson greeted us in her door way. Once we were all in the room we took out our dot to dots. The dot to dot was shaped like a sailboat. We read in our textbooks about global warming. Our assignment was a review worksheet.

After science we rushed to reading. We talked about what “onomatopoeia” and what “assonance” were because Mrs. Dux would be gone tomorrow. Those words were on the unit review. Onomatopoeia is a sound that represents something. Like ZZZZzzzzzz, most people would know that that meant sleeping. Assonance is a repetitive vowel sound, most of the time in poems. Here’s an example, “The sweet sheep went beep in his jeep.” Once she was done we worked on our vodcast. Kaitlin shot her part today.

This week is a review week so we have no new words. Mrs. Dux went over some sign language words. After signing we played sparkle. Everyone’s stomachs were growling so we went to lunch.

We had barbecue sandwich today. It was delicious. Since it was raining, we had indoor recess. Everyone either tried to get their homework done or they played a game.

Our class went to math after lunch. First we did a 2-minute timing. After we checked them we took a vocabulary test with clickers. We started dividing fractions. Our assignment was…nothing! Wow! That’s rare.

Following math was social studies. We looked at the map to see where ancient Greece was located. Then Mrs. Dux read us some myths. When she finished, we read in our textbooks. Our homework was workbook page 61. It was a graphic organizer.

Then for writing Mrs. Dux was proud to say that our State Writing Assessments were marvelous. Our assignment for writing was to write our A and B paragraphs for our books.

Once we got to library, Mrs. Stritzke said to go sit in the lab. She told us to log on and freeze. Then she told us our organization plan for our book reviews.

Mr. Z was sick today so we had Mr. Beerbohm. We went over the first song that is going to be in our program, Rock. We started another song, but ran out of time to finish.

When we came back Mrs. Dux said she would read a few more stories then let us work the rest of the time.

When 2:30 arrived it was study hall. Everyone finished their homework, while the flutes and the clarinets went to band. Mrs. Dux on the other hand, couldn’t finish her work because she was checking over our letters.

At the end of the day everyone packed up and flew out the door like superman.
