KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP IS HERE!

An informational meeting for parents and guardians of children who are eligible to attend Kindergarten during the 2008 – 2009 school year will be held at Central Elementary School (808 F Street) on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

For entrance into Kindergarten, a child must turn 5 years of age on or before October 15 of the school year in which he/she enters Kindergarten. As well, any children who turn 6 years of age prior to January 1^st of 2008 must be enrolled in Kindergarten at the beginning of the 2008 – 2009 school year.

The informational meeting on Tuesday, April 1^st is for parents/guardians only. However, complimentary childcare will be available at the school during the parent meeting. Information will be shared regarding the Kindergarten program and schedule, school readiness, registration procedures, immunization requirements and Kindergarten physicals, dental and vision exam requirements.

At the conclusion of the presentation, time will be provided for families to begin completion of registration information. Families may find it helpful to come prepared with their child’s emergency contact information (contacts’ names, addresses and phone numbers), current immunization records and birth certificate.

New Kindergarten students will be invited to attend this year’s Kindergarten Roundup to be held at Central Elementary on Friday, April 4^th from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Students will have an opportunity to participate in some realistic Kindergarten experiences including writing, listening and sharing activities; math and science learning centers; music and movement; and school lunch in the cafeteria.

Any parent/guardian of a child who is eligible for entrance into Kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year, should please call the Central Elementary school office at (402) 729-2418 by Friday, March 21^st to register for the parent meeting and Kindergarten Roundup. Please be prepared to provide your child’s name, birth date, parents’ or guardians’ names, telephone number and mailing address.
