Errrch! We got off the bus at Jefferson Intermediate around 8:10
am. It was supposed to be warmer than yesterday. I stopped to think
for a little while, but not too long, I might hurt myself. I
realize, in my ten seconds of thinking, that I am the roving
reporter today. I rush into class and wait for Mrs. Dux to ask the
darkest question in my sixth grade life. "Who's roving today?"
When we came in today we took lunch count, and sat down, at least
some of us anyway. We did the Pledge of Allegiance in sign
language. We gathered our belongings and headed to science
class.
As we entered the room of doom, we began to get out our
assignments. Once we were done checking the assignments, we were
given our other assignment. Mrs. Hudson gave us some time to work
on it. Next we were given a magazine known as Trail Tails. Soon
after, she set some plain pieces of paper on the table. It was for
a Mr. Diamond. Everyone scattered like a flock of chickens who had
just been fed. The clock struck 9:30 and we went to reading.
For reading we came in and sat down. Next we took out our work
books and checked pages 149, 150, and 151. When we were done
checking, we handed them in numerically. We then talked about our
story for the week. In our reading class we are reading a novel we
have to read. The name of the novel is Jump Ship to Freedom. It is
about this black boy who has to go on a ship called the Jutis
Brutis. He has to get his dad’s soldiers notes to the congressman
to pay for the boy and his mother’s freedom. We were assigned to
read chapter six. Next we went to our homerooms.
Instead of spelling we had guidance class. What we had to do was
read a story that Mrs. McDowell chose for us. Mine was about this
teacher who left the room and everyone was talking and in the
hallway she could hear them. When she came into the classroom, they
stopped talking. Then we got ready for lunch.
For lunch today we had hamburger on top of mashed potatoes. When
everyone was done, we went to recess. Once again there were people
playing football or four square. The bell rang telling us that it
was math time.
Once we got to Mrs. Mac’s class, she passed out our test and we
headed to the computer lab and took state standards. When we got to
the class room, we learned how to add fractions. Next we got ready
for P.E.
In P.E. class we did the Cotton Eyed Joe. Then we went back to
school and gathered our stuff for social studies. During social
studies we grabbed our clickers and we took a test with them. Next
we went over our G. O.'s. Then we watched a movie on the Greeks. We
learned about their economy, their trading post, and their vast
empires. Soon after, we had study hall.
During study hall we worked on all of the assignments we received
for the day. Matt and Kaitlyn were working on their vodcast for
reading class. The bell rang and everyone went home.
The dark clouds from the sky parted, and the sun was shining
through the clouds. For being roving reporter, it wasn't so
bad.
