The Great Outdoors!

Here I am, Roving Reporter with just 17 days of school left, but who’s counting. Oh wait, we all are!! This will be my last Roving Reporter report (sob!). So let me tell you about our day.

We started our day with an interesting “Earth Day” science class. We went to “Mars” with a rocket made out of string. Some students were astronauts, some were ground control, and some were observers. We learned that there are not a lot of resources on other planets, so we had better take care of ours on earth.

In our reading class, we graded papers. After that we discussed the book that we are currently reading. The book is called “Stargirl”. A lot of kids found this book to be inspiring.

Next, we had spelling. We are studying words from around the world. I think that this is one of our most difficult spelling lists. I’d better do some extra studying for this one.

For our delicious nutritious lunch, we were served mini corn dogs. I enjoyed some relaxing time talking with my friends. At recess time, I played football. Recess seemed way too short.

After lunch, we had math class. We are learning how to turn numbers into decimals, percentages and fractions. I think that Mrs. Mac did a great job of teaching this. It is a skill that will come in handy.

We had P.E. next. We all had to run a mile. This is harder than you might think. My time was not so great. I am definitely not a distance runner. Maybe Ms. Seibolt will go easy on us tomorrow. Ha!

Mrs. Dux let us go outside for social studies. We studied the rise and fall of Rome. We learned how the people of Rome were divided by Christianity. They had different religious beliefs.

The students all worked on their alphabet books in language arts. We have put a lot of work into our books. We are getting close to getting these done.

All the sixth grade bands students gathered for mass band. We practiced some songs and just had fun playing together.

We had some time left for study hall after band. Everyone worked on their homework, read and got all the stuff they needed to take home with them together.

Finally the bell rang. As I walked out the door, I thought, “Hey now there’s only 16 days left of school.” Cool!!
