School to Career Class
for ALL Juniors

Starting in August 2008, all Juniors will be required to take the School to Career Class (STC). This class will be offered first semester blk 5/6. You will rotate through 4 different sections all within that first semester. Each class will run for 45 minutes, you will then have C lunch and go to a different teacher still in the STC rotation. Then at quarter (October) you will switch to a new set of teachers. Those teachers will be: Mrs. McDowell and Ms. Schutt for 1 quarter and Mrs. Hansmire and Mrs. Peterson for another quarter.
Each section will cover a different set of information to prepare you for the Career world. An overview is as follows:
Mrs. McDowell: Career Searching, Job Shadowing, creating your career portfolio, 2 & 4 year plans, etc.
Mrs. Schutt: Scholarship application and essay writing, college application process, working to finish up info from Mrs. McDowell's section also
Mrs. Hansmire: Interviewing, resume writing, other business/real life sided career information
Mrs. Peterson: Personality tests, goal setting, etc.
Time will also be available in these session to work on the Baylor Test Prep software available to help prepare students for their ACTs.
Materials and needed info will be handed out in each class. But below are some links of materials needed for Mrs. McDowell's section.
1: All students must complete 10 hours of Community Service from June 1 to the end of Mrs. McDowell's section (October or December). Use this Community Service form to record your hours. STC- Community Service Documentation Form
2: All Students will be required to do a Job Shadow during their session with Mrs. McDowell Forms will be added below to print off if lost.
