Central Elementary Families Get Fit and Have Fun!
by Christy Lucking
On April 17, Central Elementary Families tied up their laces for Central’s first ever Walk-a-Thon. This school-wide family event was an evening of fun and a healthy way to get fit. The dreary weather didn’t stop parents, teachers and students from having a fantastic time. The Walk-a-Thon was relocated to inside the Community Building where the weather was perfect! .
A goal was set to walk 100 miles that night and that goal was well exceeded. The walk began at 6:30 p.m. and continued until 8:00 p.m. Students received punch cards for every mile they walked. In return, each punch card earned them a chance to win prizes. Afterwards, all participants enjoyed a healthy trail mix snack and bottled water.
The night concluded with students winning prizes. A drawing was held and all participants received prizes including notepads, bubble wands, bouncy balls, and many other prizes. Bikes and Razor scooters were given away to grand prize winners.
This year’s Walk-a-Thon was a great way for families to have fun together while doing something great for themselves!
