Personification
Angus visits school
by Karen Horky
Today Thursday, April 23rd my dog Angus visited school. He came to help us out with the literary term personification which means giving human qualities to animals and objects.
Angus usually goes to “work” with Mike at MH Paint & Body so he is used to “helping people out.”
In our Language Arts class we are currently reading The Good Dog by avi. It is a story told from the dog’s point of view. The main character McKinley (the dog) takes care of his “human pup” named Jack. He also is the town’s “head dog” and a wolf (Lupin) has come to try and convince the town dogs whom she refers to as “leash lickers” to go back with her to the wild. He also has dog terms for human things such as; staring papers are a book, glow box a TV, soft sleeping place a bed and many, many more. We have enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone!

We have also written stories from Angus’s point of view or with him as a main character and are putting together a book of them.
