We started the day as usual except for me, because I was Roving Reporter. Actually, this is my last Roving Reporter because we only have eleven days of school left. When I walked into the room, Ronnie asked me if I wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or if I wanted the hot choice which was cheeseburger. I grabbed the camera and the graphic organizer and got ready for the day ahead of me. Finally, when everyone arrived, we signed the Pledge of Allegiance.
We were a few minutes late for science, but Mrs. Hudson didn’t care. Our science teacher, Mrs. Hudson, greeted us in the hallway with an “Enter if you dare!” She then told us to slide our desks so they pointed south. Then Jordan showed how magnets attract and repel. The she gave us some iron filings and magnets to see if we could feel them repel. After that, we read about magnetism. We did a project on how to make an electromagnet stronger. Kouper then handed out our worksheet.
Instead of reading, Brad Seitz came to our class and gave us a Game and Parks presentation. He talked about the four items animal needs to survive. He also told us about animals having trouble in the wild with diseases. He talked about the hazards of poaching. He showed us a film on what man has done to the earth. Lastly, the most exciting part, he showed us a live scorpion, centipede, and a snake.
Can you spell collect? C-O-L-L-E-C-T. Next was spelling. Though we were late for spelling, we had an assignment. It was the synonyms and antonyms for our spelling words. As the bell rang at 10:58, no it was too early for the bell to ring; it had to be our stomachs grumbling!
We walked to the lunchroom in alphabetical order. Today’s lunch was delicious. It was cheeseburger or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. After we finished eating, we ran outside to play a game. I was playing football. Of course, the girls won. When the bell rang it was time to go inside for math.
Mrs. McAllister told our group to get the marker and the black boards out. We were doing proportions. We wrote the answers we got, onto the black boards. After that, she told us our assignment, which was to do the backside of the worksheet we had. We also had to enter state standards into the computer.
Once math was over we went to P.E. with Miss Seibolt. While on the track, we jogged to the numbers and back. Then we practiced our running event for the track meet. Once we finished practicing, the girls relay team beat the boys relay team. While we were running the relay event, the other kids practiced their field events.
For social studies, we had a BIG vocabulary test. It was on all the words we’ve learned this year. Mrs. Dux told us that once we finished we could work on our assignment, which was read lessons 1 and 2, and do pages 97-99 in our workbook.
Mostly, for language arts, we had study hall. But our assignment was to work on our alphabet books.
Just like every study hall, we finished our homework. Most of us had science, math, or social studies. While some were working on homework, others went to mass band. After band, percussion instruments had their lesson.
When the bell rang at 3:25, I was sad because today was my last Roving Reporter. Well, watch out 7th grade, here I come!
