Music Department Honors Awarded
Heather Barber, Kirby Ruhnke Earn Honors

Tuesday, May 6, at the annual Senior High Spring Concert, Fairbury High School seniors Heather Barber and Kirby Ruhnke were recipients of the annual awards given by the Music Department. Heather earned the John Phillip Sousa Award, given to the outstanding band member for distinguished service to the band during her high school career. Her name will be added to the plaques on display as she joins a long list of Fairbury students who have earned this annual award. Fairbury High School has been giving this award since 1957 (to see a list of past winners, click here ). Kirby received the National School Choral Award, the vocal equivalent of the Sousa Award, Fairbury has given this award for many years also, and Kirby's name will also be added to the plaques displayed on the east side of the Burkley Fine Arts Center.
