YOUR PRESENCE
WAS A PRESENT
Central Elementary families are deserving of thanks
for the wonderful support (rehearsing parts and songs) and
attendance at our recent 2nd Grade Christmas Program, “The Littlest
Reindeer.” Under the direction of Mrs. Pat Riggins, elementary
Music teacher, our children shared many musical and dramatic
talents. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and
consistent attendance at school activities.
LETTERS TO
SANTA
The Fairbury Journal News would like us to remind
students that, if they would like to write a “Letter to Santa” for
print in the paper, that they are due by Monday, December 22nd. It
must be turned in with a completed form that was sent home this
week. The form is also printed in the newspaper, or can be found
online. They have a number of prizes that will be given to
Jefferson County students for writing letters. These prizes consist
even of bikes, movies and mp3 players.
Santa letters returned to school on or before December 19th will be
delivered to the newspaper office by school staff.
SANTA’S
WORKSHOP – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18TH
Ho! Ho! Ho! Our children are truly excited to
participate in our 7th annual “Santa’s Workshop” activity day on
Thursday, December 18th from 12:45-3:00 p.m. Many, many parent
volunteers have dedicated countless hours, supplies and talents to
make this event a tremendous success!
HOLIDAY EARLY
RELEASE & BREAK
The Fairbury Public Schools will dismiss all
students early next week on Friday, December 19th. Central
Elementary students will be dismissed early on Friday at 12:40 p.m.
Bus transportation will adjust and run accordingly. In honor of the
holiday and winter break, school will not be in session for all
district (PreK–12) students on Monday, December 22nd to Friday,
January 2nd. There will also be NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 5th
for teacher in-service. Classes will resume at the regular
scheduled time on Tuesday, January 6th.
HOLIDAY
GIFTS
Please be reminded that gifts presented to school
personnel are not required of students, nor are they encouraged.
Any gifts brought to school for teachers or staff would be
accepted, opened privately, and graciously acknowledged. Thank you
for your consideration.
JUNIOR JEFFS
BASKETBALL CAMPS
Through collaborative efforts of the Burkley
Wellness Center and Fairbury Public Schools, elementary students
will have an exciting opportunity to keep active, have fun and
learn some fundamental basketball skills. Interested Kindergarten
and First Grade students received information last week about
registering for a 3 week series of after-school “Junior Jeffs”
basketball camp sessions to be held in January 2009. Second Graders
will participate in the basketball camp opportunity in
February.
If you have any questions about the Jr. Jeffs Basketball Camp,
please call Craig Bontrager at the Burkley Wellness Center
(729-6139).
2nd QUARTER
REPORT CARDS
Your child’s report card indicating progress and
achievement toward grade-level standards through the 2nd quarter
and first semester of the 2008-2009 school year will be sent home
in your child’s “Friday Folder” on January 9, 2009.
