Junior High Students learn about Dating Violence
by Brooke McDowell
Trudy Spicer from the Hope Crisis Center came to talk with the 7th & 8th grade students on January 26 & 27, 2010. She informed the students about many facts and statistics about dating violence and gave them warning signs to look out for. She also told them how to be a friend to someone in need and to be sure to talk with an adult if they themselves are in a situation or they know of someone that may need assistance.
February 1st - 6th. 2010 has been declared Teen Daring Violence awareness and prevention week by the Senate. "We must teach our children what it means to have healthy relationships free from harassment, fear, and physical and emotional abuse, said one Senator."
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please encourage them to seek out an adult for help. The 24 hour confidential crisis line for the Hope Crisis Center is 1-877-388-HOPE(4673).
