FCCLA Star Contest

Fairbury FCCLA members participated in the District 2 STAR contest on January 19th at Lincoln Southwest High School.  STAR is the acronym for Students Taking Action and Recognition, and is an FCCLA event that gives students the opportunity to research, prepare and deliver a presentation on  a topic that relates to the area of Family and Consumer Sciences.  Two teams of students entered this year and represented Fairbury FCCLA.  The eighth grade team of  Chelsea Sasse and Taylor Hill presented on the topic of Healthy Lifestyles, and received a silver placing for their event in Health and Wellness category.

Paige Husa and Michaela Barber, also in the eighth grade, gave their presentation on the Dangers of Pharmaceutical Drug Use, receiving a gold placing and advancing on to the state STAR competition in Lincoln at the State FCCLA Convention April 11-13th. Both teams worked hard on their presentations and were polished ambassadors of Fairbury FCCLA.
