It was a cold day, so cold you could feel it on your spine. When we came to school in our silver van, a deer came right in front of our van like a jack rabbit. My mom slammed on the brakes very hard so she would not hit it. Then the deer bolted off. We got to school later than we typically do.

The class gathered up their textbooks, notebooks, pencils and their planners.  When we got to reading class with our awesome teacher, Mrs. Dux, we talked about vocabulary words from our text book.  Some of them are typical, summit, peripheral and awesome.  Our class got a vocabulary worksheet.

During language arts and spelling class, we did the Nebraska writing assessment test.  We wrote about a place where we like to go.  I wrote about the outdoors.  I like the outdoors because you can have all kinds of adventures.

To Mrs. Hudson’s classroom we went for science. We checked yesterday’s worksheet and we  talked about a speedster that scientist hope to make in 2011.  After that we got to design one of our own.  We read page 435 out of our science book.  We got our worksheet on velocity, speed and acceleration, as the bell rang.

The class took our hungry stomachs to lunch.  We could smell the meat and cheese of macho nachos.  The smell came into your nose like home made brownies in the oven.  After our table was dismissed, we went to our classroom.  For recess, I just hung out and did our science homework.  I don’t like indoor recess because we don’t get a chance to run around.

Social studies was different today.  We watched a video about China’s culture.  We learned that some of the women used to do weird things to their feet to make them look beautiful.  It may sound weird to us, but that is what the culture there used to do.  We checked page one on our pre-test packet.

Today, we did not have two specials.  We got to do art in our class.  For art class, we made our valentines bags.  I hope we get to fill them with lot of valentines and candy.  We went across to the Armory for PE even with the weather being cold.  Miss Seibolt said our class got to have a game day.  Our class picked Dr. Dodge Ball.

To Mrs. Mac’s room we traveled to for Math class.  We did some problems at our desk with white boards.  We got a simple worksheet that dealt with changing decimals into fractions and fractions back to decimals.

Today was mass band for most 6th graders.  For others, we had study hall.  Most 6th graders did not have homework, but the others who did were working frantically to get it done.

After we got done with our school day on February 9, 2010, we exited the school into the cold, cold weather.  The ground is white along with other objects left outside.
