Lady Jeffs Place 3rd At Seward Tournament

The Lady Jeffs Softball Team travelled to Seward on Saturday,
August 29th and place 3rd. In the Jeffs first game, they played
Aurora and defeated them 9-6. Emily Steele recorded the win with 2
K’s, 2 Walks, and gave up 6 hits. Hitting for the Jeffs included
2-singles and 1-double for Kenzie Helmink; Steele 2-singles; Traci
Bohlmeyer, Laura Hinrichs, Bailey Likens, and Nicki Vernon each had
1-single. The Jeffs lost their second game against Seward 4-0 with
Steele recording the loss. She had 3 K’s, 1 Walk, and gave up just
3 hits to the top ranked BlueJays. Recording hits for the Jeffs
were 2-singles for Helmink and 1 single each for Bohlmeyer and
Likens. For the 3rd place game, the Jeffs faced Centennial and won
that game in 5 innings outscoring Centennial 11-3. Steele recorded
the win with 2 K’s, 1 Walk, and giving up 5 hits. Recording hits
for the Jeffs were Steele with a single, double and a triple,
Helmink with a double and a single, Bohlmeyer and Vernon each with
a pair of singles, and Hinrichs, Traci Knobel, and Michaela
Schroeder each with a single. “It was a great way to start the
season, recording some big wins and Emily pitching well.”
